Facebook Means Business

You have a Facebook fan page for your business, it's new, fun, and at times, it's oh-so-overwhelming. Before every update you question yourself; "Am I using my Facebook fan page to its full potential?"

When using Facebook, a balance of engagement with your audience and brand awareness is key to success.  Whether you're a retailer, a hair salon, or an accountant, the practices are similar.Constantly asking your audience to 'share' your posts, 'like' your comments, or asking questions hoping for a comment  may be more harm than good. Instead, balance them out. Talk about your industry, provide education, and ask engaging questions to create a response. Make Social Media about your audience.

It's good practice to mention your followers in your Facebook updates, but it  has to be relevant. For example, if you attend an event with a certain client, mention it on your status update. Your page will reach larger audiences and your client will feel a sense of importance in your business.

Photos and videos are great types of dynamic content; however, keep your videos short and your photos tasteful and relevant to your company. It's not tactful to post a picture of you drinking at the bar with your friends on a Saturday night. Keep your videos short and sweet and people will be more likely to take the time to watch them.

Visual appeal is key when it comes to your Facebook page, a beautiful cover photo and a relevant profile picture will encourage people to like your page.

How often should you update your status with photos, videos, and other  tidbits?
Don't post wild party pics.. like this..
Use your best judgement in this case and base your posting frequency on your followings reaction . Don't overwhelm your followers by posting too many things at once.Space your posts out and it will allow your readers to easily click through, like, or share your content.

Facebook isn't meant to increase your company's sales instantly, it's meant to create a positive image of your company's brand and build relationships with your customers. Keep it positive and follow these simple steps and your fans will truly be fans!

  1. Great post! What other companies forget to do with social media is building a relationship with their customers. Some just sell and post updates, forgetting to respond to the concern of the customer. Social media is an interactive site wherein we initiate and foster communication with other people. That way is already creating a positive image that will attract more customers. Social media makes it easier for a company to know what is their next business plan because they are hearing out the needs and wants of their customers through interaction. Social media is a wonderful tool. Let's maximize its benefits.
